The Colour Monster in EYFS

Recently, EYFS have been reading ‘The Colour Monster’ by Anna Llenas to help them explore and understand their feelings. The children enjoyed discovering how different colours represent different emotions, particularly yellow for happiness and blue for sadness. They learned that it is completely normal to feel sad sometimes and discussed ways to help themselves when they feel upset.

Together, they explored simple strategies such as sharing a warm cuddle, taking slow, calming breaths and talking about their feelings with a trusted adult. It has been lovely to see the children developing their emotional awareness and learning positive ways to manage their big feelings!
