Welcome
to Year 1/2
Miss Wright
Meet your teacher
Miss wright
Hello and welcome to Year 1. My name is Miss Wright and I can’t wait to be your Year 1 teacher!
I know many of your faces already and most of you will already know me. We will start off in year 1 still having access
to provision and we will have lots of new and fun learning.
Outside of school I have a dog called Tallulah that demands
much of my time. We like to go on holidays in the lake district to
swim and climb up mountains. I also enjoy spending time with
my family and friends.
In Year 1 we will continue to develop our confidence and
communication and will have weekly show and tell time. This
will be done on a rota so you all get special time to share
something.
I can’t wait to hear some of your great stories!
Meet your teaching assistant
Mrs Outram
Hello, my name is Miss Hunter and I’ve been a teaching assistant at Sandhill School for the last 3 years. When I’m not at Sandhill, I love spending time with my friends and family as well as going out for nice long walks with my dog Bon Bon! I’m eager to spend time getting to know you all this year and I’m sure we will have an amazing time learning together!
Class Information
The school day starts at 8:40 and every morning you will be greeted by a member of the KS1 team. The school day ends at 3:15. Children are to arrive to school with a water bottle each day. We will let you know our PE days in September. Please can you ensure you arrive to school in correct uniform and have a correct PE kit. Homework will consist of reading, phonics and spellings. We ask for children to be supported with reading at home at least 3 times per week as this plays a large role in helping them to learn and progress. We ask for book bags to be in school every day so that we can read with children. Please make sure you are signed up onto dojo as you will be added into a new class. Any updates throughout the year will be posted via dojo.
Areas of Learning
In year 1 and 2 we have lots of amazing themes to get us excited for our learning and we will explore these themes through history, geography and science.
We will get creative and learn new skills and knowledge in art and DT.
In maths we will continue to develop our understanding of place value. This will include addition, subtraction, fractions and multiplication.
We will continue to develop our literacy skills through various narratives along with daily reading and phonics.
We always use books and hands on experiences to help promote and develop a love of learning.
