Following several fixtures from autumn to early spring, Rawmarsh Sandhill Primary School have been successful in lifting the Gordon Swann Cup after qualifying for this cup final.
The Gordon Swan Cup is part of a school football tournament in the Don & Dearne region of South Yorkshire. The main ‘Totty’ trophy was originally donated to the Dearne Association by a Goldthorpe Picture House proprietor, Russell Totty, in the 1920’s (first recorded final 1923).
Originally it was a “senior school” competition but is now a primary school competition. You can find more information via the link button below.
Having been finalists last year, boys and girls from years 4 to 6 worked brilliantly as a team in the final to beat Rawmarsh Thorogate, 1-0.
Rhia Moorcroft (Y6), Caden Whittaker (Y5, Captain) and Emilie Edwards (Y6) , who took part commented: ‘We played really well as team, and we passed and moved the ball well. We worked really hard in defence. Everyone put in 110%.’
The silverware is the school’s first major football trophy in 30 years, and the children and staff who supported them, should be extremely proud of their achievements. 
Their development as team players and footballers over their time in Wickersley Partnership Trust has been fantastic to see.
