School vision & Values
At Sandhill Primary School, the children are at the heart of everything we do.
Our ultimate aim is to develop independent lifelong learners who are well equipped to deal with life in a modern world.
At Rawmarsh Sandhill Primary all children and staff follow “The Sandhill Way” to be better learners and better citizens within our school community and develop their personal attributes. This is discussed in classes and in assemblies. Children will develop a sense of pride in their work and achieve their full potential. every child will have their talents and successes recognised and rewarded. Developing children’s attitudes and attributes are at the heart of what we do.
The Way includes:
- We are ready to learn
- We say please and thank you
- We believe in ourselves even if things get tough
- We are prepared to make mistakes
- We take risks in our learning
- We listen to others
- We respect others
- We work hard
- We dream big
- We are proud of our achievements
- We take pride in our appearance
- We take responsibility for our actions
We passionately believe that to develop every child to fully meet their potential, we must offer a broad and balanced curriculum that develops skills and knowledge sequentially, allowing for effective recall and long—term memory connections. This should enable learning across all subjects, whilst developing children’s life skills, including their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
Our school seeks within this to remove barriers to literacy, maths, language and oracy through ensuring curriculum subject planning describes how our curriculum offer will do this.
Finally, in all our learning and development, we seek to broaden children’s horizons through effective access to an exciting and world-wide curriculum, inspiring and relevant visits that take them beyond their experiences and opportunities to take part in clubs and experiences that can show them their wider development and pathways to success, including through the arts, music and sciences.
