A History of Mining with Year 5 and Year 6

Our Year 5 and Year 6 students are learning about the miners strike in their History lessons this term.
 
On the 5th February Rob Hammond, a miner for 38 years, came in to talk about his time working at the nearby Silverwood Colliery including during the time of the miners strike.
 
The children found his talk fascinating, allowing them to hear real life experiences of someone who was working in the mines during that time.
