Foundation Stage 2 is really important, it’s your first-ever year in primary school! When we are in Foundation Stage 2 there’s lots of fun learning to be done with our new friends: we mould and shape things from playdough, design and build things using our construction area, become artists in the painting and workshop, use our imagination in the role play, make music using our instruments, enjoy outside activities (whatever the weather) and sit down in the reading area with a good book – the learning just never stops!
We will help each other settle into school and new routines, and even eat our dinner with our friends. Then, just before home-time we’ll all sit together and enjoy a story. We’ll be sure to make lots and lots of memories.
In September our topic is going to be ‘All About Me’. We will spend time learning about each other and our families, our emotions and what it feels like to be happy or sad. We will talk about what it is like where we live and about how the school has changed from when our grown-ups were little. We are also going to be artists just like Van Gogh and paint our own self-portraits. In our All About Me topic, we will be learning about what makes us healthy and helps us to grow. We can’t wait to find out all about you!
Our Foundations Stage 2 will be split into two groups for our carpet times. Daisies with Miss Charles and Sunflowers with Miss Rhodes. In FS2 you will arrive at school ready to say goodbye to your grown-up at the classroom door at 8.45 am. They will collect you from the same door at 3 pm. After a couple of weeks of settling into school we will begin to take part in PE lessons once a week. For this, you will need black shorts, a white t-shirt and black pumps or trainers. Earrings must be removed by parents before school on PE day. You will be given your very own reading book when you start in FS2 which will be changed each week by a teacher. We ask you to bring your reading folder into school every day, you never know when we may want to sit down for a quiet read! When in FS2, additional to the fruit and milk on offer, we participate in additional snack time. For this we ask for 50p per week contribution from parents/carers. This can be paid weekly or half termly.
